Honeymoon Part 3 - food, beaches and goodbyes...

We couldn't really fault the food, although expensive as we expected, it was pretty tasty but I do think you would get bored of the menu if you stayed more then 5 days.

There are 3 restaurants Fish, Fire, Kitchen, 2 lounge bars - Wet and Sip and there was also the Maldives' only underground nightclub - 15Below.

We saw the Executive Chef Mauro Gomez popping up a few times in the restaurants too.

I totally forgot to take photos of the breakfast buffet, it was good but not the best I've had. Some of the best brekkies have been in Bali and Bangkok. Brekkie wasn't included in our special room rate and was 100USD for the two of us per day. I know, exxy.

A view that you cannot get sick of. ever.

then I saw this funny looking cloud ;)

What would honeymooners do without a self timer? You do look pretty stupid at the time but not as stupid as others who use a tripod and a remote as many other couples did. Ha!

I'd say the island was 90% Newlyweds and there was a pretty large Asian market, kids under 13years aren't allowed to stay, which was lovely and one of the reasons why I chose to stay here.

Lying in a hammock is not as comfortable and relaxing as it looks, squeezing 2 people on a piece of material was difficult or maybe we were just doing it wrong. We didn't stay in it for long though. Hahahaha!

The water was amazing!

There are 78 private retreats, Beach oasis retreats and Ocean oasis retreats.

WAVE Watersports Centre, I wanted to try windsurfing but I'm way to clumsy and didn't want to make a fool of myself.. I saw a couple use a James Bond water doobie thing and that was hilarious!

and we kind of had a sunset on our last night

Gorgeous soft white sand and you wouldn't believe the hotel was at 90% capacity! We had the beach to ourselves!

What's a holiday without a jumping shot right? Thanks again to the self timer, it only took us about 1543 attempts to get good air time.

Para... Para... Paradise...

Oh herro! D looks a little sunburnt. Dinner on our last night was at Fire. It was sooo good! It's a BBQ buffet and you select all your bits and pieces that you want to eat and the chefs will cook it your liking. We stuffed ourselves silly and drank a fair bit too :)

Beep beep!! We saw these buggys zooming around all over the island, a few couples requested to be driven back to their rooms.. seriously? How lazy?! We loved walking the walkways and seeing what sea life we could find.

You're on your honeymoon! Whats the rush?

so, don't forget to pout and pose. Lol.

Waiting at the jetty for our seaplane back to the airport, we also met the General Manager there too. He was so lovely and told us that The W retreat and Spa is one of the top 3 luxury resorts in the Maldives. I think the others he mentioned was The Conrad and The One and only.

We seriously had the most amazing honeymoon, everything about this place was just first class. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Good Byeeeeeeee! I felt really sad leaving, I didn't want it to ever end. Wahhhhhh....

seeing a heart shaped island did make me feel a little bit better.

Incredible right?

The landing at the seaplane terminal was so smooth compared to the one inbound and our pilot was in training!

Our flight back to Kuala Lumpur wasn't until 10pm, we arrived back at the airport around 4pm and like I said in my earlier post, Male airport is a shack. We asked how much it would cost to go back to the Sheraton for a few hours and it was 200USD per person!! No thanks!

Instead we found a nice little spot on the wharf and ended up seeing this gorgeous sunset!

You can find out more about The W retreat and Spa Maldives here.

If you love doing nothing, relaxing, hot weather, good food, sunshine and beaches you cannot go wrong. It is perfection.

I'm so glad D agreed to splurge on a dream honeymoon and even agreed on my first choice! Yay!

We had such a wonderful experience that will never be forgotten and I told D whenever we go on holidays we have to stay at The W from now on!!!

  1. You should be glad you didn't try windsurfing, it's HARD! We tried it on our honeymoon, I could get one direction and ended halfway up the beach, then I let Matt have a go and he couldn't figure out the other direction either. I ended up getting someone to boat out and bring the windsurfer back coz we were stuck all the way up the other end of the beach :P

I'm still in awe at how beautiful all your photos look. You guys took some amazing photos.
