My eBay fail.

I lost out on a pair of Bulgari (is it spelt Bulgari or Bvlgari?) Sunglasses last night on eBay in the very last seconds by $2.50! $2.50!!!

*cries!!*

I could not believe it and I was devastated.

How does this happen? What did I do wrong?

I was the highest bidder and in the last 3 seconds, BOOM! I was outbid!

Seriously, I thought that in the last 3 seconds that I would be safe and it was obviously not enough time to place another bid.

What I do love is the ebay iPhone app. It has a great lil timer.

Queen V at The Etail Queen suggested I try bidnip, I had a squiz but I'm not sure, have you used it?

So, I've lost my mojo with ebay now, I'm kinda off them for the moment.

Have you had any good/bad experiences with eBay?

  1. I usually do an obscure bid like $218.45 instead of $215, for example because another bidder is more likely to go for a round number but your obscure bid might get you over the line.
I've been selling some stuff lately and have noticed most ppl don't bid until the last second to score a bargain. I'm not impressed with ebays fees lately I got 30 free listings but now I've got $50 in fees owing for that final value they take, they must have put it up!

I got some Bvlgari sunglasses in the US this time last year for around $200 at sunglasses hut at San Fran airport, they're like $600 in Australia. So that said $200 is expensive for eBay do maybe find some US based stores and see if you can find your sunglasses :)

    1. They have! I think it's on 7.5% that they take, not to mention Paypal fees. I sold something for $5.00 and ended up with barely anything after all the fees.

    2. I thought is was a bit much! So there really is no point starting something at 99c now, you'll end up at a loss if it doesn't go further! Not good!

  3. I always console myself by saying that there's no way of telling what their max bid was. For all you know it could have been $300, so just bid the max amount you're willing to pay and if they bid higher, so be it!

  4. Ahhh I hate when that happens :( I always try to console myself that it just wasn't meant to be! You'll find them again, maybe for cheaper! x

  5. Oh I hate losing on eBay!!!

On my eBay app I am quite the secret sniper, and I always bid an obscure amount, as J said above. I usually wait til the last 5 secs... That's how sniper-y I am. haha

    1. Really?! Wow that is so sniper-y! hahahaha! I never knew people did that!! I'm going to be more ruthless from now on!

  6. I also always secretly snipe during the last 5 seconds. It's a smart way to bid so you avoid raising the price to outbid someone.

  7. I'm surprised how many of you are so sniper-y! How sneaky! but I guess thats how the game is played... other bidder did win the sunnies, good luck to her and her sniper-y ways :)
