Bridesmaids!

A few weeks ago, my girlfriends and I (and D) watched Bridesmaids. It is the BEST movie! When it comes out on DVD it is going to go straight into my favourites collection.

It's just simply hilarious and I found myself laughing hysterically throughout the movie.

Kristen Wiig - Anne is my new fave actress, I loved her in Knocked up and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She is fabulous and oh so funny.

I think this is one the best scenes from the movie. If you have not yet seen it - Do not clicky the linky!

My wedding dress fitting!

I had my first dress fitting yesterday and I fell in love with it all over again!

SO SUPER DOOPER EXCITING!!

I just had to get the bust area altered to fit more snug and a bit taken up in the front.

Mum was cute and got all emotional and teary. Bless!

and I decided on a veil, still not 100% sure if I want it over my face or not.

I was originally just going to have a single cathedral length veil but it looked too overpowering, so I decided on a fingertip length with a all over face option.

The lady in the store put the veil over my face and I was like "naawwwww, I look like a bride" Ha! So then I got confused if I wanted to wear it like that or not. I was thinking of maybe wearing it over my face down the aisle then getting Dad to lift my veil before the ceremony, if that makes sense?

Here is a little sneak peek of my veil, beading, shoes and dress.

Excitement plus!

I know I've probably posted this before but I saved it as my background on my work computer this morning and I just got a wee bit excited.

The W retreat and Spa - Maldives

How bloody unreal does the water look?

In just over 2 months, I'm going to be snorkling in that reef. Hells yes!

Can't wait to go on our honeymoon!!

Lonely nights.

Ever since D and I have moved in together, I am so used to having him there to help me fall asleep.

Whenever he is away for footy, I can't sleep well, I get cold, I wake up instantly from any noise, I wake up every hour, I just don't feel safe at all.

BUT...

I just saw this online. Could this be my solution?!!

I need one for tonight. The man pillow, although I don't know many men that sleep with a button up shirt on.

The shifty shift worker.

It's Saturday night and I find myself at work with a headset strapped to my head.

I can imagine 100 better things that I would rather be doing right now.

It's been a little busy here but way better than it has been last week. School holidays and bad weather always makes sh*t hit the fan. I've done all my usual tasks, checking emails, stalking blogs and forum chatter.

I was just thinking to myself that I've been doing shift work for over 8 years now and if you call working in Burger King after school, shift work then it's 11 years!! How long am I going to do this for?!

I've never known what it's like to do the nine to five grind. The good: I'm always up before everyone else, I get to see the beautiful sunrises that the morning offers, I don't sit in traffic (much), I get the shopping centre to myself during the week, shift penalties, double dollars and I love sleeping in before a late shift, getting up at 10? gooooood!!. The bad: I'm not home for dinner, I work weekends, missing out on my regular TV shows like The Block and Masterchef, working nightshift, eating microwave dinners and workingmost public holidays.

When I used to work at the airport, I would have 4 am starts, correct 4AM STARTS! how in the world did I physically do that?! I would see people stumbling home from a big night out on my drives in the morning. It would make me laugh. There I was sitting behind the counter with my perfect fringe, checking people in and wishing I was going away with them, somewhere exotic. Like Tahiti, that would be nice! I think in the mornings, I would just swtich into auto mode - put the uniform on, hair and make up, rush out the door and cruise control all the way to work and I would finish at 9 am, cruise home all sleepy eyed and I would watch Ellen and Oprah then have a nanna nap on the lounge.

I'm a bit luckier now, the earliest I start is 7 am. It's more humane, sometimes brutal but it's ok. The latest I finish now is 9pm. I had a interview a few weeks ago for an internal position and during the interview I thought to myself, I don't want this job. As much as I complain about shift work, I do enjoy it. The work/life balance is good. I love having days off during the week when D is off, we'll usually get lunch together either Sushi or Yum Cha or we'll go visit our parents who live on the other side of Sydney and make it a little day trip.

Like Confucius say: Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.

Any other shift workers out there?? Throw your hands up at meeeeee!! Oohh my, it's getting late... almost time to clock out.Yay!! Good night!

Bali Part 6.

Home time! Our flight was leaving at 1130pm, we spent the morning around the pool and in the afternoon we visited a wholesale homewares and nic nac store called Unagi. It was amazing! We spent a good hour in there. I bought about 60 wooden fans for about 60 cents each, some wood carvings, stone carvings and Balinese umbrellas.

Here are the last of our photos from the trip.

D looks a little pink here :)

I really like Benoa, it's away from the hustle and bustle. There are alot of nice restaurants that aren't overly busy. On our last night we went for dinner where they had a guitarist playing. We requested a song "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, the guitarist was soooo cute! He didn't really know the words except for Love...love....love... Yep, we tipped him for his effort.

D waiting for a taxi. There was nothing coming!

and I managed to squeeze in a Strawberry Mojito before we checked out!

I saw this at the airport. It's a Durian Dress!

Flowers, flowers, Flowers!

The flowers have definitely taken the longest out of everything to finalise. I originally had my heart set on Peonies but they aren't available in October :(

Then I wanted an all purple lisianthus bouquet, like my profile picture and then I found this below...

I loooooove it! It's so pretty.
Instead of Peonies the florist will be using purple, white and pink Lisianthus.

Bridesmaids are having a white posie of Lisianthus

Our centrepieces will be medium sized glass vases filled with dendrobium orchids with scattered tealight candles.

We are having a white floral aisle like this

and two large floral arrangements, filled with white roses, white lisianthus, a mix of white orchids and a touch of purple through it too at the end of the aisle, which will be moved over to the bridal table following the ceremony.

It's all coming together and I'm starting to picture what it's all going to look like!

3 months to go!!!

More hair inspiration

I'm still VERY confused about how I would like to have my hair on the day.

This is how long my hair is.

I want to get a chop to maybe below my shoulders.

Maannnn! Why is it so hard to decide?

Here are some pics of hairstyles that are in the running.

This style is coming first.

Loooove this!

Bali Part 5.

If you want a great book to read you must get The Happiest Refugee by Ahn Do. It's an amazing story about Ahn's journey from Vietnam and setting up his life in Australia. I have a bad habit of starting books and not finishing them but with this one, I could not put down, I read about half of it in the first two days and I have about 5 pages left. We read around the pool for hours everyday. This book makes you laugh and cry. Love it!

Lunch at the hotel and I tried a Strawberry Mojito for the first time. AMAZING! Where has this cocktail been all my life?!

Our view at lunch, beautiful, with tables and chairs in the sand.

State of Origin was on that night and there was nowhere locally that was showing the game. D and I headed over to Legian to find a nice bar, chill and watch the Footy. ALL the bars where packed and you needed to book a table! We didn't realise that it was that crazy, we walked from Bar to Bar and all full. D started to get a little peed that we couldn't find a bar, so he resorted to getting a back massage on the beach.

To relieve the stress, all the boy wanted to do was watch the footy! Poor thing!

No massage for me, I just chilled with a ice tea.

Finally after walking about 2km, we found a sports bar, also packed, they were still allowing patrons but only with a fee of 50,000Rp ($5) But there was NO room inside?

So we watched from across the street for a while.

The atmosphere was so fun, we've never been around Queenslanders while watching Origin and most of the people in the bar were from Queensland. All the Indos were wondering what the hell was going on? I explained to a guy in Indonesian, that it was a very important Australian sporting event. Lol.
NSW was getting beat, so we left and had dinner at a restaurant at Discovery Mall over looking the beach at Kuta. We had a feast, It seemed like D hadn't eaten for days! He had Salt and Pepper Squid, Fried Noodles AND a Fried rice!

I just had Satay Chicken. Standard.

Bali Part 4.

We met with the planner and everything is pretty much done and locked in!

We saw the work of our Videographer - love it! our Photographer - love it! Florist - love it! Make up and hair artist - Loooooove it!!

We went over what the day will be like and ahhh it's just super exciting. I wanted to have a lantern release like in the Hangover or The Disney movie - Tangled but apparently they are banned in Bali after one burnt down a villa. Eeeek!! So instead we are having a Balloon release.

Just figuring out what Signature cocktails we would like to be ready following the ceremony. I love Mojitos, so we will have that and maybe Margaritas?

I just sent this pic to my planner today.. I loooove this cake. Hopefully it's reasonably priced.

You can't have a wedding without paperwork!

We also ordered our wedding favours. Cute little Balinese statues! Massive bargain.

Went down to the beach in Legian to have a drink, watch the sunset and I got pretty flowers painted on my nails.

Taa daa! I always get this done in Bali.

 Sunset.
